The first guideline is to know your audience. Ask yourself, who am I speaking to? What do they care about? What do they need to hear? Knowing your audience will help you craft a message that resonates with them.

The second guideline is to be clear and concise. You don’t want to overwhelm your audience with too much information. Make sure you have a clear purpose and that you get to the point quickly.

The third guideline is to be passionate. When you’re passionate about your message, it will come through in your speech. As the great poet Maya Angelou said, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
